An unemployed engineer Stanley Hill returns home after a job interview in California. The vivant's wife, receives it from the airport and
the two of them go to celebrate with a dinner. But fate has other plans, when three thugs attacked them in the parking lot. Ο άνεργος μηχανικός Στάνλεϊ Χιλ επιστρέφει σπίτι του μετά από συνέντευξη για εργασία στην Καλιφόρνια. Η Βίβαν, η σύζυγος του, τον παραλαμβάνει από το αεροδρόμιο και οι δυο τους πάνε να γιορτάσουν με ένα δείπνο. Η μοίρα όμως έχει άλλα σχέδια, όταν τρεις κακοποιοί τούς επιτίθονται στο πάρκινγκ. Ο ένας τους χτυπάει σκληρά τον Στάνλεϊ στο κεφάλι και ένας δεύτερος μαχαιρώνει τη Βίβιαν στο στήθος. Η γυναίκα θα πεθάνει επιτόπου στην αγκαλιά του άντρα της. Η αστυνομία βγάζει άκρη με το έγκλημα και καλεί τον Στάνλεϊ για αναγνώριση. Όταν κι αυτή πάει στραβά, ο γεμάτος ενοχές άντρας αναλαμβάνει ένοπλη δράση.
